Upward Bound Prospective Students and Parents

Why not you?
Many UD Upward Bound participants have gone on to accomplish great things in their chosen fields. There are many who have gone on to be doctors, lawyers, teachers and even talk show hosts. Dr. Bertice Berry, a nationally syndicated talk show host, author, award-winning lecturer, and stand-up comedian was a UD Upward Bound participant and has been honored on the national level as a TRIO Achiever. "Let me just say this: "If there were no Upward Bound Program, there would be no Dr. Bertice Berry." TRIO programs like Upward Bound can and do make a difference in the lives of many students. Why not you?

How will Upward Bound services help me?
Upward Bound will help you…

  • increase your self-confidence concerning enrolling in a college or university
  • assess and improve your study skills
  • enhance your awareness of the college admissions process and student support services available on college campuses
  • increase your knowledge of careers and career options
  • provide you with an opportunity to live in a supervised university residence hall
  • provide you with an opportunity to visit other college campuses, cultural events, and have FUN!

How much does it cost?
The program is free to the students and their families. A grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education provides for all student room and board expenses, instructional support, tuition fees, and a weekly stipend for each student during the summer program.

When is the Deadline?
The deadline for applications is April 1st.
