Upward Bound Study Centers run from September through May and
meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Academic Enrichment Center. The goal of the study center is to provide
you with trained staff to assist you with homework assignments,
studying for quizzes/exams, projects, SAT/DSTP preparation, and college/career exploration. During study center hours, you have access to all the
resources you might need to complete your assignments.
If you are planning to participate in the study center, please
bring enough work for the entire time. This is study time
– not time to socialize. You will not be allowed to
disrupt other students who are here to work. In the event that the study center must be closed, an announcement will be posted on the local radio stations.
The monthly workshop time is set aside for academic workshops,
community service, college tours and cultural activities. The workshop is
usually scheduled during the day on a Saturday. Some sample activities include: Money Management,
Food Drives, Financial Aid for College, art exhibits, admissions
workshop, and Study Skills. Please check your program schedule and UB fliers for monthly workshop dates and topics.
The Upward Bound program offers SAT/DSTP preparation both during the academic year and in the summer program. This is provided both formally, through SAT/DSTP preparation classes, and on an individual basis, during evenings when the study center is held. If you would like help preparing for the SAT, please see the Study Center Coordinator during study center hours.
The Upward Bound Program offers fee waivers for the SAT test
and for college application fees. These fee waivers are only
available to active members of the program.
The tentative move-in date for this year is Saturday, June 21st. Please
remember that this date is tentative. The summer residential
program will be held on campus at the University of Delaware.
Students who are in good standing during the academic year
will be invited back for next summer. Classes will be offered
in English, Latin, Algebra 1 through Calculus, and Biology
through Physics.
Statement of intent (Coming back this summer? Let us know!)
