The Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) is an academically intensive
five-week residential program for incoming freshmen accepted
to the University of Delaware. This program enables selected
freshmen to become acclimated to the campus and to the academic
rigors of college during the summer immediately preceding
their first semester at the University. Students may earn
up to seven university credits through coursework in mathematics,
English and a SkilMod course (credit-bearing college study
skills course). Placement into the appropriate level of these
courses is determined by SAT scores and results of placement exams.
Program participants take classes, attend
regular review sessions and have mandatory study sessions
in the evenings. Students also participate in a variety of
academic support meetings, cultural enrichment events, and
personal, social and recreational activities. Program participants
are encouraged to participate in Academic Enrichment Center
activities throughout their freshman year and beyond.
A select number of SEP participants also
may be eligible to participate in the Student Support Services
Program during the academic year. The Student Support Services
Program is a free comprehensive support service available
for first-generation college and/or low-income students.
Limited financial assistance is available
to qualified applicants who are accepted into the Summer Enrichment
Program. Applications are due in April, and decisions regarding
admission to the program are made in late May.
The program takes place during the University's
second summer session (mid-July to mid-August).
